Lectors
Proclaiming the Word of God
Lectors are entrusted with the sacred responsibility of proclaiming the Word of God during the celebration of the Mass. Through prayerful preparation and clear proclamation, they help the Scriptures come alive, inviting the faithful to hear, reflect upon, and respond to God's message.
In addition to proclaiming the readings, lectors may lead the General Intercessions and other prayers as the liturgy requires, serving with reverence, confidence, and a love for Sacred Scripture.
Our Mission
Sharing God's Word with the Faithful
The ministry of the Lector exists to faithfully proclaim Sacred Scripture so that all who gather for worship may hear God's Word and be drawn closer to Christ.
Every proclamation is an opportunity to help others encounter God's living Word through careful preparation, prayer, and faithful service.

Ways to Serve
Serving as a lector is both a privilege and a responsibility. Members of this ministry prepare prayerfully before each assigned Mass to proclaim the Scriptures with clarity, reverence, and understanding.
During Mass
- Proclaim the First and Second Readings
- Lead the General Intercessions when assigned
- Assist with other prayers or liturgical responsibilities as needed
Preparing to Serve
- Prayerfully reflect on the assigned Scripture readings before Mass
- Attend lector formation and training opportunities
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before Mass
- Serve at assigned liturgies or arrange for a substitute when necessary
